Great script, unfortunately wanted...
First, great script, as far as ease of use (and I've tried MANY over the years, trust me). Unfortunately, not sure how much, if any, I can now use it. I offer text ads (google style, but, random and looking for more control), plus, separate random rotating banners on our network of sites.
I was looking for something to combine and manage BOTH, so, quite excited over this script, so I bought it. However (and obviously missed that part, so, my own fault), I can't offer advertiser logins/control without risking access to config files. I also can't customize header-footer-other aspects (quickly-easily, anyway) and no actual page stats (vs rss feeds, which I won't use). So, although it MAY help with my members banner ads (as I'm currently running those via a flat-file rotator, but, was hoping for more user automation), so, can't use this for our textad members. But, will keep the faith and patiently await any upgrades and new feature's, as I like what I see and owner/creator seems like a genuine and hard-working person (unlike so many out there). In the meantime, I'm off to reload my old textad script and test some banners with this script. I'll also be recommending it, as I think many of our members would benefit from it (the less techie). One feature that I'm SURE would truly help many (if possible, that is), is the addition of a captcha script for security. I've tried adding a few different one's to my login sites and just get frustrated and confused (scripts and I have never played well together :o) Just a thought. |

RE: Great script, unfortunately wanted...
I appreciate you taking the time to write up your thoughts. This script was created with a sole website owner running it in mind - thus, the lack of any advertiser login. It's something more than one customer has asked for and it will be looked into to see how possible it would be to integrate into an existing install (the upgrade piece is always the biggest concern).
As far as the page stats - may I ask why you don't like the rss feed stats? That route was chosen to provide easy access to stats without the need to login every time. On the captcha piece - Do you find a need for captcha at the login screen? I'm not sure why that would be necessary? Thanks. RE: Great script, unfortunately wanted...
Hi Matt,
No I DO get the one owner design and it IS a great script for that. Just moved to new server, so wanted to also add a fresh start on services. So, no problem, will just move it to a different dir. for my use only. As for rss feeds... I'm simply not familiar with, as far as actually using any and ALWAYS concerned over security issues. Which is another reason I'm also looking for more secure scripts, as I have NO idea how to secure scripts/directories as well as I need to. As for the capcha... Why do YOU have it when logging into the forum? :o) |
