Small issues
Hello,
i am new to MSA and installed it for the first time. The setup went straight forward and took just 10 minutes. After the first login into the admin panel i stumbled into the following issues: 1. configuration tab In the single form fields i did not see the configured values. Instead the form fields displayed the coresponding php code (variables) 2. advertiser tab The table contained 12 rows but all of them where empty also i could see the correct data in the mysql table 3. ad tab the link to add a new ad was missing Solution: I had to enable short tags (<? ?> instead of <?php ?>) in php.ini to get it to work. Due to the fact the installation worked without problems you must be using long tags in the php files for installation but you use short tags in some other places. This is a bit inconsitent and should be reviewed. Or state in the requirements that short must be enabled. An other issue occurs while adding an ad group. The entry in the field "number of ads to display" is ignored if you create a group for the first time. Whatever you enter there will be reset to 1. Ounce created you can edit the group and change the value and it will be stored correctly. The advertiser dropdown in the Ad context (add/edit Ad) should be sorted alphabeticaly. The "preview ad" button opens a new window and i get a server error 500. However ad delivery is working on my pages (windows 2008 R2, IIS 7.5, MySQL 5.1.41, PHP 5.2.12). I am not sure what causes this issue. Under the stats tab in the Ad dropdown deleted Ad id's are still displayed. I have deleted the Ad with ID 1 but this id is still displayed in the stats section. It has no name anymore (shows only 1 -) but still it is there. I guess this is a bug because this id does not get reused if you add a new Ad. Finaly i would like to say even with this small issues MSA is exactly what i was searching for long time to replace my old ASP based adserver. I tried many PHP solutions and even Open-X. Most of them are totaly "over-featured", many are ugly and usability is bad. MSA is simple, fast and the group feature compined with the ajax script is a unique feature that suites my demands by 100%. And the price is realy nothing to worry about. Keep on with your excelent work. I will do my best to help. Kind regards Michael |
