Start Date not working

Toungue Start Date not working
I have an advertiser who wanted to put up a sale banner to temporarily replace their normal banner. So I created a new ad with a start date (that same day) and an end date of one month later, and marked the ad as enabled. Then I disabled the old ad, and set its new start date to the day after the sale banner expires but left the end date blank.

Problem is that it did not restart automatically.

Now I always thought that ads are marked as disabled unless they are within the start/end date range. Or should they always be marked as enabled and the system will just not show the ads when they are not within the start/end date range?

If that is the case, in the above example, should I have just changed the start date for the original ad and not disabled it?

RE: Start Date not working
Let me first explain how it works, and if this is what you follow(ed) and it still doesn't(didn't) work, let me know...

It always assumes both the ads with start dates and expiration dates are Enabled. If the ad has a start date that hasn't been reached yet, it's supposed to continue to find another ad. As far as the expiration side, it checks to see if the current time is at or after the expiration time. It then disables the ad and continues to find another ad.

Thanks.

RE: Start Date not working
OK, that what I concluded as I was writing my post. Thanks for confirming. After I posted I decided to run a test. I enabled my holiday ad for next Xmas and set the start date to 12/15/2010 and end date of 1/3/2011. And of course it has not displayed. So really, the only time an ad would be disabled would be when it didn't have a start/end date and you did not want it to display anymore, maybe just keep it so the advertiser can see the impression/click data.

Thanks
